INTEL HBCU ECE Partnership

The Intel & FAMU (HBCU) Research, Curriculum & Outreach Programs to increase underrepresented minorities through faculty and student development within FAMU’s Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) and Computer Information Sciences (CIS) departments. This cross-disciplinary approach will serve to bring faculty, students, and Intel industry partners together to work on:

  • Program #1: Research Projects & Expo

  • Program #2: Courses/Course Module Development & Implementation

  • Program #3: Technical Outreach: FAMU-FSU CoE Collegiate Hackathon

  • Program #4: Student Retention: Peer Mentoring & Tutoring


Expanding on the historical collaborative connections between Intel and FAMU-FSU College of Engineering Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) and FAMU Computer Information Sciences (CIS) departments with an increase in providing curriculum and/or course content, technical lab, and research experiments, along with an opportunity to engage more student across various disciplines through a Hackathon. All programs will focus on faculty and student development initiatives that support Intel’s focus areas of:

  • Artificial Intelligence (AI)

  • Internet of Things (IoT)

  • Autonomous Vehicles (AV)

  • Software Development (SW)
